Ivan is the director and choreographer for the Ivan Dimitrov Dance Ensemble which has danced at the opening ceremonies of the Cherry Blossom Festival, Fairfax Spotlight by Starlight, the Fairfax Fair, the Greater Washington Folk Festival, the Kennedy Center Millenium Stage, and the World Bank. The group specializes in entertaining at private parties, area malls, schools, and weddings from twenty minutes to one hour and can include participation. They can also do a lecture demonstration style, which incorporates dance with some history, geography, language, music, and explanations of what they are doing. This type of program generally lasts about 40 minutes, and can also include audience participation at the end.

Ivan brings to young people a new vision of world music and dance, that which has not yet been experienced in the Greater Washington area. The complex rhythms and infectious styling of music from the various regions of Bulgaria grab audiences and delight them from the start.

Ivan owns more than 700 costumes, all of which are colorful and intricately embroidered and woven, and represent each geographical region. The music and costumes come together and meld into the beautifully choreographed dances that Ivan has composed and staged.

In his native Bulgaria, Ivan organized and ran a company of seventy and a children's school and performing group. To this day, his main interest and one of his goals is in the development of children and the opening of their minds and hearts to the beauty of Bulgarian culture.
