Arden Johnson

Arden J. Johnson became one of the presidents of the Minnesota Suare Dance Federation.

He was a physical education teacher at Purdue University in Indiana, was a square dance caller, and wrote a number of articles for early Viltis magazine issues. During 1949, he chauffeured Vyts Beliajus from Chicago to California, but was drafted when they got there.

After a two-year battle with cancer, Arden died at age 65 in Minneapolis, Minnesota, November 18, 1988.

Dances Arden has taught include Back Away, Broken H, Easy Does It, Hey Look Me Over, Honey Square, Kool, Lazy River, Line of Eight, Mack Is Back, Marina, Pick Up Your Corner, Six-Eighths to the Bar, and Wild Over You.
