The Highland was at 732 N. Highland in Hollywood, CA. A folk dance group that was formed on October 7, 1974. This organization is listed under the coffeehouse category as that was its final aim. It was run by Ruth & Jack Margolin and Sam Schatz on a new hardwood floor in a nightclub atmosphere.
In October of 1974: Beginning teaching, 7:30-8:15; intermediate, 8:15-9 p.m. Guest teachers to be featured. Introductory offer included teaching, dancing, and refreshments.
In December of 1974: Ellen Kurz taught Romanian dances from the San Diego Conference during the intermediate period, 8:30-9:30 pm. Ruth Margolin taught the beginners' hour, 7:30-8:30. Admission included instruction and refreshments.
The Highland, which was owned by Sy Levy, was closed to folk dancers in 1980.
